phpMyAdmin access denied

When I try to connect to MySQL using phpMyAdmin 2.3.3 I get the following errormessage:

error
MySQL returned:
Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)

How can I resolve this problem?

check your config.inc.php and set up the right user/pass
