php4 sessions

I am having problems starting sessions under apache/php4 running on windows xp everything else seems to work fine am constantly getting the message - Warning: open(/tmp\sess_bccbc78b15913330320c4dfe21203df1, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in c:/program files/apache group/apache/htdocs/sh/catcarscpt/show_cat.php on line 4

Is this a config problem or is it some thing that I am doing as all I am doing is using session_start();

Any help would be greatly appreiciated

did you assign the path for storing session value?
if not, open pnp.ini file, then search for 'seesion', then add the path to the seesion_save.
