I have spent over 24 hours for this tiny page hit counter....

final way I have to copy the php code in the html file, then save the html page to be .php file instead.

when I open the "abc.php" file on the server, the counter works.

but I used frames in my index.htm, which calls the abc.php in one frame. when I browse the index.htm, the counter does not work any more.

Is it common? Maybe my question is stupid because I never wrote a script and know nothing about cgi programs.

Any comment is apprciated.

is index.htm the frameset page, and does the frameset specify the php page as one of its daughters?

could your browser be cacheing the interior frame? i suggest you make sure that you are clearing the browser cache in between page refreshes to give the script a chance to work. if that clears the problem make sure that the php script includes proper no cache headers to prevent the browser repeating the mistake.
