php.index question

Hi

Not sure what forum this question should be asked in..

My website, in the control panel, in the

http://www.public

I have a index.php for my website, and i also have a index.html for a home page I was designing, when I go to the domain its opens the index.php page, is there a way to change it that when i go to the domain it will open the index.html without having to delete the index.php file?

assuming you are using apache, ask this in the apache forum.
but the answer is yes- there is a way for all web servers that i am aware of.
