PHP includes not showing up

The PHP document is showing, but it includes PHP headers and footers, but they are not appearing on my website.

If your base PHP script is working, I doubt it's an Apache configuration problem.

What happens in your script when you replace include() for replace()?

Sorry. Try replacing include() with require(). Does the behavior of the script change?

sleipnir, i replaced the include to require and nothing happened. i believe this problem to be an apache problem because i recently installed apache on my linux server and i have been playing with the config files but with no luck. thanks!

I do not necessarily agree.

It could be something as simple as the php.ini setting "display_errors" is set to "off", and you have a path or permissions problem that PHP can't report.

What is the value of display_errors in php.ini? If it's not "on", make it that way. Also, make error_reporting the value E_ALL. Restart Apache. Try the script again.

where is the php.ini file located? i appreciate your help

Most likely /etc/php.ini. But ask PHP -- it'll tell you.

Run a script that reads:

phpinfo();
?>

In the output of that script, look for "Configuration File (php.ini) Path". That's where PHP is getting the config file.
