PHP image gallery scalability recommendations

There are a lot of PHP image gallery scripts out there. I wondered what would be the ones that would scale for very big collections and heavy use. Hundreds of users maybe thousands of users at a time and huge DBs of images. Provided I had the hardware...

If you threw out some names of links I'd like to investigate it for my own perosonal techie interest. Thanks

most of the galleries that i have used store the images in the server filesystem rather than a database.

thousands of users and millions of records doesn't seem too much of an issue for a mysql based application but the real bottleneck will, I suspect, be bandwidth and, a long second, disk access and cacheing.

my own recommendation is menalto gallery 2 which i have used for ten thousand or so images and a bit under a hundred users without problems. hardly the scale you were looking for but there's been no other replies to your post for a while!
