PHP Error on posting

when i try to use my php forum i got from a friend the followingerrors appear :
1)Warning: mysql is deprecated; use mysql_select_db() and mysql_query() instead in C:\Xitami\webpages\darkrelm\bionicbulletin\pages.inc on line 3

2) Warning: mysql is deprecated; use mysql_select_db() and mysql_query() instead in C:/Xitami/webpages/darkrelm/bionicbulletin/bionicbulletin.php on line 86
Could some one please help me moddify the php script ..ill have to get permission to show the script 1st mayb though. thank you

If you post line 3 of pages.inc and line 86 of bionicbulletin.php here that would help I think.
