PHP, Curl and Paypal

Hello everyone!

I wanted to know how to do a very simple form variable pass with PHP and curl to paypal. My purpose is to use the forms on my site and simply use paypal to verify or deny payments for items.

Anyone had luck with this? I am not looking for any pre-made package, I want to learn to do this on a very simple level.

That did address the php/curl part, but how do I get paypal to work with that system? I've looked around and so far deduced that they hand off some variables for use on websites other than theirs to be passed into their shopping cart program, but then it still requires a second step or third to complete.

Anyone have experience linking to paypal and retaining the integrity of staying within one's own website?

I don't know what the PayPal API looks like. But PayPal's Web Services and Developer Central can probably tell you.
