We have web server running Apache2 and php 5.0. We use the system for users to pull up reports in Excel. The last couple days the reports have gotten to large to pull up in Excel. Text seems to work though. Is there a setting some where that can be changed to pull up large files? Possibly in the Includes directory?

Thanks in advance.

I don't understand.

Are the files so large that PHP won't transmit them in their entirety?

Or are the files too large for Excel to handle?

Basically all the report files start off as Text files, but can be converted into Excel files. Any text file that is larger than 5MB will not open in Excel. I checked my php.ini file and increased the upload file option to 12MB, restarted Apache, but that didn't help.

When you bring up the file through the web server as a text file it comes up file. Any file that I try to pull up through Excel over 5MB will not display. It gives an error stating that the file cannot be accessed. Anything below 5MB pulls up fine.

I've been looking around in my Includes directory, Excel, writer.php to see if any settings need to be changed there.

Thanks

If you open this in your browser, it opens okay.

If you open this file directly in Excel, Excel barfs.

Without knowing what exactly is in the file, this sounds like a problem with Excel, not PHP.

What happens if you use your browser to save the output to a file on your workstation hard-drive then open that file with Excel?
