PHP Apache2 Integration

I am having a problem integrating Apache 2.0.50 with php 4.3.8. I have followed the install.txt that came with the PHP install and it looks like I have everything setup right. I can even start apache from the command line and everthing is ok. PHP is also working when it starts. When I try to start from the service however, I recieve specific error 1. If I comment out the PHP module in the httpd.conf file the service starts ok. Does anyone have any idea where I could look to solve this problem? There is not anything in the error.log that is of any help that I can see. I am running on Win2k professional.
