photoshop type text

when i use the type tool to type a text there is always little dots and smudges aroung the text i use anti alias i used the crisp and strong and the smooth selections and its still has smudges around the text any help i have a new HP computer i have photoshop5.5 this is bugging me i have another computer thaty does not have this problem.l.
