Photoshop LE Program Hang

We have a system that has Photoshop Limited Edition, version 5.0, running on Windows XP. After installing the program, it runs fine for a few days. Then, the program will hang when trying to load. We'll get the main Photoshop screen, but it never completely loads. The Event Viewer logs an 'Event 1002 - Application Hang', and points to photosle.exe as the culprit.

The system used to have Windows 2000 Pro, and had the exact problem. I've tried running it in Windows 95 & 98 Compatibility Mode, with no luck. Has anyone run into this before?

No I've never had this problem and can only suggest a few things:

I could be a memory leak causing the hang and LE or some other program could be the culprit.

Does this ever hang when you try it directly after a reboot?

If no, then chances are you may have a leak somewhere and we can pursue trying to find it.

If yes, it probably rules out a leak and leads to the next question. Have you installed all the latest service patches from microsoft?
