photoshop launch problem

I have a AMD Athlon xp 1800+ 768 ram 240gb hdd. windows xp sp1. just installed photoshop cs and whenever i launch photoshop i get message that not enough memory allocated.
any ideas. I have installed photoshop before and it was ok. i had to do a clean install of windows and all my programs. since then been having this problem.

Have you checked Adobe for any upgrades patches?
