Photoshop Error HELP!

Hello today I noticed a problem in photoshop that would only let me use a certain amount of filters.. everything else is greyed out and im not sure how to fix it. when I create a new selection (like a bar or something) i dont have options to use all filters like I did before... I just recently switched computers and it was fine on the other one.. not sure what exactly could be different now . I cant fix it and was wondering maybe one of you knew how.. heres a screenshot of the filter selection

I believe some filters are mode sensitive e.g. will only work in RGB not in CMYK etc.

I cant get to the image, but I bet your in something other than RGB, check that first!
