I don't understand it. One day PhotoShop 7 on my OSX machine is working fine. The next day, it hiccups and it looks like a fresh install. It asks me if I want to optimize my color pattern and everything.

Well, problem is, that now it doesn't see certain fonts!

PSD files that have worked just fine in the past are now showing that the fonts are not found.

OSX keeps fonts in the wierdest places...I have tried removing and adding and changing locations and everything of the fonts in all of my font folders.

Does someone have any familiarity with this?

I do not love how OS X deals with fonts. I'm not sure about Photoshop, but I had a similar problem in QuarkXpress. I had to reload the fonts I was using into the fonts folder in the Library. I'm still not sure from day to day that they will be found.

Had to take all of the fonts out of their subfolders!

It worked fiune that way untill last week. Adobe pushed down an update and everything went haywire.

I put all my fonts in a seperate folder and am dragging them back individually as I need them. A small price to pay...it works now.

I hope that gets fixed soon. It would drive me nuts to have to load fonts one at a time from a separate folder. I'd go back to OS 9 before I'd put up with that.

I don't have that many troubles with it. It is simple enough. Besides, I only have issues when I want to step out of the box or whenever someone send me something to work on that uses odd fonts.

Helps to know your fonts too though.

But true enough, it stinks. I am still not ready to give in to a font management software yet though. -----------------------------------------------

Font management systems are not a bad thing. I use ATM Deluxe (at work, still on OS 9) and find it preferable to a bloated fonts folder in my System. But I have no clue about that sort of thing on OS X. Anyone tried a font utility in OS X?

I'm curious if you added any additional users to your OS X environment.

Can you tell me a little more about your configuration? Classic runs in OS 9.2? What version of X are you running? Do you have more than one partition? More than one drive?
