Hi,

I'm having a bit of trouble with some text in a PSD file, which was originally done in a PS CS version but as I can only use PS 6.0 its giving me grief..

Whenever I try to doubleclick the layer to edit the text, it says that trying to edit or render this text will make its layout to change, and when I do, the text appears jagged and not as aliased as it was in the CS version..

Does anyone know why this happens and what i can do to get over it?

In the option or preferences I have the 'Maximise Backwards Compatability in PhotoShop Formats' option checked, so dunno what else is up..

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Do you have to keep it as a PSD? Try saving the layers into a TIF file for each, or even a layered TIF, and then going backwards...let us know....

DBX
(Try it my way, it might work...)

Adobe has acknowledged a problem with version 6 opening CS files. If stuck with the PSD format, your only option is to open in another version (not CS) of Photoshop and then resave so that version 6 can open.

Adobe will not be releasing a patch for version 6.

Hey..

Thanks for the replies, I have since worked out what was the problem. All it was, was that when you try to edit the text and are forced to re-render the text, it changes the text aliasing to none, whereas in the original it was set to crisp..

I needed to keep it as a PSD file as it was a template for a website, which i cut into smaller sections and of course need to retain the original PSD if any changes etc need to be done..

Once again, thanks and have great Christmas'..
