Photoshop closes while trying to open

Over the past few days, I have tried to open Photoshop but it closes about the time the brushes begin loading. I have restarted my computer numerous times, and PS still will not load. Anyone have experience with this problem? Any suggestions?

reset the prefrences by holding crtl-alt-shift while starting PS. You'll get a dialog (if you're quick enough) asking you if you want to reset photoshop's settings. say yes.
