I need some BIG time help. Something has gone wrong with my Photoshop 7 and I don't know how to fix it or even how it got this way. My colors (color pallet) are stuck on a variation of green and purple colors, like if I had a duotone active. I can change the color settings and swatches and everything, but the actual colors won't change. Even when I open an existing file, it will convert it to the green and purple shades (even when I tell it not to convert the colors).

I have already uninstalled the entire program and reinstalled it and it didn't fix it. I don't know what to do. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

Try resetting the preferences file: faq229-2082

Hope this helps!

Nate,

I'm not quite sure which preferences you are talking about. Can you be more specific?

Thanks,
Tori

Hi,

Photoshop and many other programs have what is known as a preferences file that retains info about certain things you like to customize (color settings, history undo states, grid colors, etc etc etc) that file may be corrupt. You may need to delete that file and have photoshop create new one. Follow the instructions in the FAQ. It is very easy to do.
Hope this helps!

I have the same problem... I even tried deleting all of the preferences files and still the colors are all tinted purple or green. When I go to the color picker it's like there is a pruple haze over the whole spectrum. Any ideas would be apreciated

Thanks,

Jason

Well, I have tried what Nate suggested, but it was unsuccessful. The colors are still the same...it's really weird too. I can toggle to and from photoshop and image ready, and the colors will change to the correct ones when I'm in image ready. I really have no clue what to do from here.

Jason,

Are you on a Macintosh and if so, what operating system are you using?

vhall,

I finally found the problem!!! There is a problem with the calibration between PS7 and your monitor. Run Adobe Gamma. That should do the trick. Just make sure Photoshop isn't running when you do it. I ran Gamma while Photoshop was on and it didn't do anything (I almost went into a fit then, lol). But after closing it and trying again it worked fine. There is an faq to be found here:

Hope it works for you too!

Jason,
