I can't believe I never found this forum. I've been posting in the IBM/Lotus: Notes forum, and other than Pascal I rarely get responses!

Just a quickie, I'm in a hurry with this project now, and its not an essential part, but is there a simple way to allow the users of a form to upload a photo from their machine like an attachment, but to have the photo display once uploaded, instead of just being an icon?

Guess who ;-) ?

From a browser, the user cannot embed, so you have to provide for an alternate functionality if you want to display the data.

As far as I know, you have two possible solutions. The first is to use a special form with the Autolaunch property set to display first attachment. Unfortunately, that means that you'll have to provide for a view and a form that allows to edit the documents, and another view with the special form that allows to visualize the pictures. That said, it is not difficult to implement.

The other solution involves creating a special view used only to display documents with file attachments. That view should have its first column sorted on a unique value (i.e. the name of the file that is attached to the document). Then, you need to determine the URL to that file. It should be something like db_filepath/viewname/columnvalue/$file/fullfilename.
By clicking the URL, your users could then view the picture.

Pascal.

Ugh, sounds horribly complicated, and like it won't work properly anyway.

Thanks for the tip, will give it a try if some miracle happens that gives me more time!!
