I have been a pretty advance user of PSP since version 3. I would really appreciate some advice on achieving the photo effects shown the this scanned image: Industrial machinery. Lots of lighting effects. Thanks in advance.

The only real lighting effect there is the flash behind the machine.

The light and reflections on the machine are probably due form how the picture was taken. Looks like windows reflecting of the side of the machine, and some hard light being shined onto the front.

For the big flash, you'll likely have to layer the image.

cut out the object you want to add the flash to, add an under layer with the background, and then use the Effects->Illumination menu to create a Sunburst.
