I have a wierd problem. Since the last week or so when coming to work in the morning several of the phones need rebooted. The display is lit but there is no contrast. The lights on display are just flickering. it is release 7.1.5.13 on 3300 mxe. I have done a reboot but the problem is still there, any ideas?

the display is lit up and the brightness of it seems to pulse. the display itself does not work, except for the light. the phone does not function. pressing any of the buttons does not do anything, like it is locked up.

thanks

How are the phones powered? From the LAN switch, or with external adapters? I have a hunch you have something outside of the phones and the ICP causing the problem here, either a flaky LAN switch or bad power.

The phones are powered by poe. I have not had any phones do this for the last couple of weeks, wich is weird because they were doing it every morning. The only thing I changed was the dhcp lease time.

thanks

Might be on to something there. Was there something else going on around the same time the DHCP leases would expire? Maybe a programmed reboot of the 3300, or a reset/reboot of another network component somewhere in between?

A customer of mine had the same issue, it was resolved (at least temporarily) by rebooting the PoE switch.
