I have a site where when a call is made to an extn even though the call is answered it gets registered under the miss calls in phone manager pro. they are using 2.1(8)pmpro.
I was told by our distributer tech support that 2.1 (10)pmpro exe may cure this. is this true?

Give it a try. It will certainly resolve another big problem with PMP 2.1.8 (preferences taking user out of group)

Is it a call to an extn or to a hunt group? HG calls will appear as missed if that phone doesn't actually pick up the HG call.
