Hi I am trying to connect to a Siemens phonemail SE remotly, they have a US robtics modem onsite. I connent but I do not have my settings correct.
(when I was onste i was able to connect directly without a problem) now I am off site trying to connect.

i need to know the "data protocol" "comprestion" and "flow control"

thank you

Use 9600 8 N 1 - Mine had an internal modem.

If you are using an external US Robotics modem connected to the serial port you may have to set the modem for a fixed communication rate of 9600 8 N 1 between the modem and the box (I think the parameter is like $SB9600 or something like that, which has to be sone and saved to the modem connected to PhoneMail) - that will allow your dial-up connection speed to flex but your interface speed to PhoneMail stays constant. PhoneMail is picky about the baud rate.

Disable protocol negotiation and compression. You can use them but then you will get a bunch of garbage before you finally get a login prompt.

I used the AnsiBBS protocol in ProComm
