How hard is it to install a IP 400 Phone8 (8-port add-on box)? Are there instructions with the box or does Avaya have instructions on their site? Is this something we can self-install or do we need an experienced tech to do it? And if so, can the tech do it remotely?

Is there a lot of programming to link the 8 analog lines with the system or do they automatically link to available phone numbers?

Thanks

it is pretty easy. just plug it in and then reboot the ipo. you will then have to upgrade the phone8 via manager. it can also be upgraded remotely if you have that capablity.

Thanks jconrad.

I'm assuming though that we have to map the extension that we want to the port, etc. which is the same as mapping any extension to a physical jack?

And what is the "upgrade" you speak of? Just to get the latest firmware on the Phone8 box?

the firmware on the phone 8 box needs to match the firmware of the ipo. this can be done by:

open manager
got to file
advanced
upgrade
select the new phone 8 box
click upgrade
and then wait for it to confirm the transfer of the file and then upgrade it. this should be done from the the pc running voice mail,

if it does not match the other firmware you may have some weird problems

as far as the mapping on the exts. that is easy to
just go to the extn. tab in the configuration tree of manager and change the ext. from what ever it is to what ever your range is and then merge the configuration. you will then need to make a user in the user tab just like you would a digital ext.
