I have a business idea that would (potentially) use a phone prompt system to retrieve info from a database based on the callers responses to a number of basic questions. Initially, the system would probably not use voice recognition (to minimize costs).

I'd appreciated it if some would point me in a direction on these systems - Open-source software (if any), vendors that would assist with implementation (ATT??), cost, etc....also if there is a more succinct name for this system.

Thanks

Yeah it's called an IVR (interactive voice response)

I would look at asterisk. You would have to have your own custom application written but at least its possible with asterisk.

It doesn't quite work like that, the IPC interacts with a crm package based on caller info (CLI etc) using a TAPI connection it sends info to the CRM. Not what this guy is looking for and neither can it be modified to interact with users calling in.

FYI both BT ITS & Etrali turrets have the same funcionality and in my opinion BTs option blows the others out of the water.
