Hi,
I need to replace an i2004 VoIP phone on a BCM50 PBX system. My concern though is that it is the x221 (primary BCM handset line) phone. All the other devices look to this phone for default settings it seems. I have "set relocation" turned on, and the phones are DHCP so that I could have the users move the phones themselves for internal location changes. The downside is to introduce a replacement phone with relocation turned on I'll have to de-register the 221 DN and then reprogram the replacement phone key by key instead of just plugging it in.
My question is can I turn off "set relocation" in the BCM, and then just swap in a new phone (programmed with the correct server IP and DHCP info) and have it replace 221 without a hiccup? without set relocation, how does the BCM know what phone is plugged into what extension if the phones are DHCP and not static? Should I make the IP of the current x221 static onto the replacement during the process to ensure it pulls the right programming? Let me know what you think, thanks!
