Just curious if anyone knows why the Phone Manager client software was discontinued?
 
Beacuse it is to be replaced with One-X portal and Avaya likes to sell licenses which PhoneManager Lite does not need, that is bad for the stockholders.
 
One-X portal is not a desktop client. We would gladly pay for Pro. A browser-based portal is hard to create an efficient workflow around.
 
I dislike one x portal myself, to get the best from it requires installing client software which is against the entire idea for it, it's a poor replacement and an expensive poor replacement at that :)

We don't sell one-x portal a lot, instead we sell Mondago's UC+ or similar. It gives some control on the phone and it gives user status and you can integrate with CRM and it has click to dial and.. a lot faster/stable as One-X portal.
 
I just read the Outlook One-X plugin is going to have expanded IM support in R9.0. How would we get a quote for UC+? Does it support IM between One-X Mobile clients and the UC+ desktop client?
 
UC+ delivers a mobile client for Android and uhm iOS which delivers status info of all users and you can control DND.

It still works & is supported but how much assistance Avaya would give if you had an issue is anybody's guess.

PM Pro Licenses are no longer Available so it is just a matter of time before they pull the plug completely.

It is not supported but it should work.
They will not break it straight away as this costs time and money.
One-X Portal is not that bad although it is missing some functionality.

There should have been an upgrade license from Phone Manager Pro to One-X in my opinion.
 
Support on PhoneManager has come to a end, the software is not in the user suite anymore but it works on the 9.0 beta's without a problem. We tell the customers who have the Pro license they can still use it after a upgrade but we cannot help if they encounter a problem, we do not encourage PhoneManager Lite on new installs.
Pretty bad as it was a good selling point, the free PhoneManager Lite.
 
That was the problem itrigrant, free and good are two words Avaya don't like in the same sentence :)

indeed the PM Pro licence should have been equivalent to office worker at least unfortunately Avaya did not see fit to do this

Uhhhh, the phonemanager pro license enables the office worker license.
This is an upgrade path and documented.

These licenses set the number of users who can have their profile set as Office Worker. If no Office Worker Profile licenses are present, existing legacy Phone Manager Pro (per seat) licenses can be used to enable users for the Office Worker profile. For Release 8.0 and higher, on non-IP Office Server Edition systems, a Preferred Edition system license is a pre-requisite.

A user set to have a Office Worker profile cannot use PhoneManager anymore and vice versa.
