I have a user that I have installed and configured the Phone Manager PC Softphone for him. Here's the problem though, when he connects his Plantonics USB headset, the sound still plays through the laptops built-in speakers. I have tried various headsets and they all exhibit the same behavior; all of the Window's sounds play through the headset, but the Softphone's sound goes through the main speakers. When I check the Sounds control applet, the device that is shown to be used for playback and recording is the USB headset.
Here's what I have done that partly solved the issue:
1. Taken Phone Manager out of Startup
2. Told him to connect the headset before starting Phone Manager (or to better yet connect it before starting Windows)
This seems to sometimes fix the issue, but sometimes he needs to try several different USB ports before it will work. His account is a regular non-admin domain user account; using version 3.1 of Phone Manager. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
