A lot of our previous licensing from our 27 400 series systems is for VERY expensive Phone Magaer Pro Unlimited.

We are migrating to Server edition 10.1 and our Distributor is trying to tell us that this licenses only converts to 1 seat of Office worker, whereas 1 2 5 25 50 and 100 converts to the same number of Office worker.

Does anybody know where this is legally stated? Not just opinions please?

Yep, only the (per User) Licences migrate 1:1, the others migrate all:1

Thanks for the Answer, but that is just a statement of what you know, how do you know?
I need some document to take to my boss and finance.
This undocumented glitch puts us $16000 over budget to buy the extra 300 office worked licenses.

We own a dongle with ta code that currently allows several hundred users to use PMPro.

What about IP endpoints, we also paid a small fortune for unlimited IP Endpoints too?

Thanks for you help.

But the Phone Manager pro is A per user license. So they will migrate to the same number you now have.

Or am I wrong?

Think you could buy an unlimited license back in the days, although I can't find any information on that you could migrate the licenses to Office Worker.
Just that from 6.1 a Phone Manager Pro license would enable an Office Worker if they were (per user).

But I don't remember that there were any IP endpoint licenses in IP400.

IP 400 didn't have IP endpoint licensing, it was free. End point licensing started with R6.0.

Talk to Avaya very nicely rather than rail at us.

But don't mention Technical 115 for IP Office Release 6.0 which very clearly states "For migration purposes, any existing Phone Manager Pro (per seat) license can enable the Office Worker functionality".

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Indeed, it is documented, I read it.
Where? Good question, it was years ago.

It's your job to find it if you refuse to believe what you're told by the experts.

Also, no you didn't have unlimited endpoint licencing. That licence has never existed (unless for Avaya use only) and endpoints were never licenced on 400 systems anyway?:)

Yeah... What he said....[wink]

The "Phone Manager Pro (Unlimited)" license did exist, but Avaya realised their mistake and pulled it before 5.0 was released so the migration story if any is well in the past. Ironically, the last "Phone Manager Pro" licenses just happened to go end of support (full total utter absolute no support contract matters end of support) a couple of weeks ago (5th March 2018) so another thing not to remind Avaya about if you ask them for help.

recently done a licence swap of 20 phone manager pro per seat lics and got the facility to use 20 office worker lics.

Yep per seat licences migrate 1:1, no issues with that.

Details
IP Office version R6+
IP Office hardware platform: IP500, IP500v2

Problem Clarification
Unable to activate the office user profile even when the PMPro (site) license is in place and for the same and when enabling a user for office worker profile getting an error notification that “the number of users configured exceeds the number of licenses”.

Cause
Design Intent

Solution
As per Tech Bulletin 115 and if required Technical Tip 226: The office worker user license will only and only work of the customer IPO has the phone manager pro (per seat) license.

Wheww

I am not railing at anybody. I have used google, I have seen the posts where people have said per seat comes over and unlimited does not. All I was asking was where does this come from, from a legal standpoint. We were assisted in budgeting our migration by Avaya certified reseller, and now our budget number is way off and my Bosses want to know why.

I clearly asked "Does anybody know where this is legally stated? Not just opinions please? "

Thank you to those who helped me find the Tech bullitin it was referenced in.

That was all I needed.

This has nothing to do with legal, it is a choice that Avaya made.
Probably it is a technical issue.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

@Mannie. Read the problem description first, nothing to do with "per seat" licenses.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

@sizbut - Mannie's second post quotes the relevant text about the site license.

@Binkoba - if you had used a BP then surely they have to cover the cost of not quoting correctly for the upgrade...

E&OE :) No way would a BP having overlooked something (not saying they would/should) would foot a $16000 bill though, I can guarantee that :)
