Phone Manager and VPN

Hi guys

Have run into the following problem a couple of times:

Running a remote location with 4602/4620 IP-phones, and offering the users PM. But the BLF doesn't update due to broadcast's not reaching the client's...

I know that Cisco's VPN equipment can forward the broadcast packets from the IPO, but is it only Cisco?!? The Avaya SG5/SG200 is apparently not able to do it..
I think it's a bit ironic that it's neccesary to use Cisco gear to run an IPO...

Other marques that I should look at ??

I don'thave the response to your question, but i have one for you.

I need to put ip phones 46XX on distants sites with an ip office and i want to know what kind of configuration i need, each distant site have DLS access. I think each distant site need to have routers ? Can you help me ?

I'm aware of at least two ways to put an IP-phone on remote site:
1 With an IP-SEC Client appl, its described in the V3.0 documentation CD "WIN2K with an IPSec Client Apllication (Dynamic Mode)"

2 with Avaya VSU devices. I have implemented this on an SO and it's working fantastic. The customer has a reasonable DSL connection. The VSU units are able to handle the voice and signalling and take care of QoS.
It's very detailed described in a technical TIP: "015: VSU Configuration & IP Office

Many VPN-devices are capable of this.

But there are no suggestions to solve my problem with BLF-update??

I believe Multitech consumer grade (RF550) routers are capable of this also. However they aren't very powerfull, and I have had trouble with them.

If you have the budget and want top notch performance - Cisco knows networking... not telecom, but they know their networking.

Yes it is ironic but thus is life.

Also, most of multitechs vpn routers dont allow direct media path between other vpn connections. Make sure that you choose a router that will bridge all vpn connections together otherwise you will need the IPO to be the gateway between the phones and will you will not be able to use direct media path which is far more effecient and faster speeds thus better voice quality.
