I have this Fluke that plugs into the wall and monitors power. Then you connect it to a computer and view information like spikes and stuff. Looks like this..

Is there a simple tool like this to monitor phone line connections. I have a customer that processes credit cards over phone line and things keep getting messed up after replacing modems and patch cables.

I don't think you will find a logging recorder like the Fluke VR101 but good troubleshooting techniques and tools can be found here: sandman.com/loop.html

I get good results from my Test-Um Ranger. If the voltage or loop current are off then it is time to check at the NID and call the phone company if it is still a problem there.

There's another meter, a little pricy, but it does have a test for line noise. Its called a Sidekick, most telco's use those as their standard meters now.
