Following the 1994 Northridge Earthquake we had some serious damage to our telephone system and we ended up with spaghetti of telephone wires that corresponded to 24 phone numbers.

The telephone technician dispatched to re-connect them used some “magic phone number” that when called would get an automated reply with the actual phone number of that specific wire pair.

I had made a note of that “magic number” but, after all these years, can not locate it and I have to identify a bunch of phone lines in a dusty attic.

Does anybody know of this “magic” number?

Thanks

NICOS5,

Have a look at thread461-1232162 for a list of magic numbers to suit your needs...

Hope this helps!

ANACs can change at the drop of a hat.

The best way to go about ID'ing phone lines is to make your test calls to a cell phone. [thumbsup2]

ths 800-444-4444 works great. the anac number changes from region to region. In western PA if it is a verzion customer the 975 will work. but 800 444 4444 will work every where
