Phone guy has cisco client issue

Hope someone can help, I tried searching but no luck

My company just had me put cisco client (pre-configured with server IP etc.on my desktop. I can connect to the server, it takes my password and user name. Status shows connected, I see sent packets but none recieved. Trace route to the far system times out. Statistics shows local lan disabled but I can ping the desk next to me 1 hop.
