Phone failures

OK I have a myriad of phone types 8410/11s, 7410s, and 7406s. Occassionaly, I'll have an issue with a phone that is clearly at the phone end. What I don't have is any sort of troubleshooting guide for the phones themselves so I can relay the problem/failure in clear language to my service provider for repairs.

Any suggestions?
