Phone doesn't ring.

Hi,
I have a problem with one client. They have IPO and one of the phones doesn't ring. Phone display shows incoming call, but there is no any sound. When I pressed volume buttons during incoming call the phone started ringing.
- Checked phone setting. Audio and visual alerting is ON.
- Tried to replace phone. Being connected to the same port, other phone doesn't ring as well. It looks the problem is not with the phone.
- Tried to find any settings in IPO. I didn't find any setting that could disable phone ringing for extension.
- Tried to reboot/shutdown the system. Problem still exist.
Would be very appreciated if you give me an idea how to solve the problem.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
 
Handset type? Direct calls or group calls? System software level....all may have a bearing :)

 
If you ring the handset can you answer the call?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
 
If no phone rings at that spot, are you using direct line appearances or some other scenario? If you call from one extension to the other, still no ring?
 
- The phone is 1403. Tried 1416, doesn't ring.
- Tried to call between extensions only. Didn't try to call from PSTN or cell to DID.
- Problem phone/port doesn't belong to any group.
- If I see incoming call I can answer.
 
Chassis and system software level? Those handsets will not work properly on old systems, they act funny as you describe :)

 
- IPO 500 V2 and software 8.0 or 8.1. I don't know exactly. Did check when I was there. According to client the phone just stopped ringing. They didn't have this problem before.
- The phone has 3 line appearance buttons and Action Data for all of them is "Immediate". There is no "Delayed Ring" or "No Ring

They need call appearance keys not just line appearance keys, in fact try and ditch the line appearance keys as they will cause headaches at some point :)

Do you want me to remove call appearance keys for this phone at all?
 
line appearance keys aren't the same as call appearance keys, which does that phone have?

 
Sorry, my fault. Confused you in one of my previous messages. They are 3 Call Appearance buttons.
 
If you hotdesk the user to another phone, does it ring? If you hotdesk another user into the non-ringing phone, does it ring?
 
The problem is solved.
The user setting had short code *DCP 0,0,0,0,0 Dial 0
According to built-in help "*DCP Short codes of this form are often inserted by the system. They are used by some phone types to contain settings relating to functions such as ring volume and auto answer. Deleting such short codes will cause related phone settings to return to their defaults."
So, I just deleted this short code and the phone started work as expected.
The only thing left to find out is what all these magic zeros mean :)
