Hi all,

I have a small problem that I am hoping one of you guys will be able to help me out with as its driving me mad! I have done a search of this and other forums but cannot find a reference to anyone with this issue so here goes.

We are running a Meridian Option 81c Succession 3.0 with SCCS 5.0 in our call centre and, as you are aware, this cannot be synched to our network time source. As such we periodically log into the switch and reset the time using the LD 02 STDA command as our switch gains around a second a day. So far so good.

My issue is that I completed a time adjustment yesterday, as our switch time was 2 minutes 40 seconds fast compared to our network time, but after issuing the STAD command I am now seeing the network, Meridian and Symposium server times are synched however the phone unit display's are showing a difference of around 44 seconds fast compared to the network time.

I have tried waiting for 24 hours for them to sync up, unplugging the phone units for a period and performing easy changes to a sample phone and none have updated the time. The phones we are using are M3903 + 4's in the back office and M3905's in the call centre.

Any help on getting these displays to sync up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys,

Martin.

Make sure that you have all of your SCCS 5.0 patches and PBX patches are brought current. I've seen odd time behavior before when patches were not updated with the latest releases.

Also, you can schedule either a Procomm or SecureCRT script to log in to the PBX and update the time using STAD.

clocking running a bit fast on the PBX?

The only resolution is the LD 2 script or updating the hardware to most current.

Your clock controller is likely going bad.

Maybe I misunderstood the original post... if your PBX time is getting out of sync with the network time, then roadrunr92 is correct.

I thought you were perhaps saying that after making sure that PBX, Symposium and Network time were all sync'd that your phones were still off.

So to clarify: If phone time does not sync up with the PBX, or if the Symposium time does not sync with the PBX, then you should look at patches first.

@ x11tech; You are right - my PBX, Symposium and Network times are all sync'ed and within a second of each other however all of the handsets around the building are 45 seconds fast and still have not sorted themselves out.

@ roadrunr92; I am aware of the script options but have not implimented them as its only a 2 second job twice a year to get em sync'ed up and we will be replacing the system this year so not worth hardware/software upgrades.

You will never get the times on the phones to match each other exactly, nor will you ever get them to match the PBX exactly. I worked in a call center for a Cell Comp. and they used the agent login/logout as their timesheets. The fact that the phones don't exactly match the network/pbx time was frustrating for them. Took it to Nortel and the short answer is you bought a phone system not a clock. (all were within a 1 minute time frame, we didnt have some that were minutes off)

If the phones are straying more than 1 minute you can turn the lamp audit on, that sometimes helps.

I vaguely recall that when you change the time on the PBX, the time doesn't update to the phones until a software audit is run, which could take up to 15 minutes.

Since the software audit doesn't process all TNs simultaneously, it updates phones sequentially, which might result in what you're experiencing. (Johnthephoneguy's post reminded me of this)

hehe... I like that...

"you bought a phone system not a clock"

star for you sir for reminding me how "entertaining" Nortel can be.

This patch helped the time my CPP 4.5W system become more accurate..

MPLR21705_CPP_04.50W: System Time loses 13 seconds per day *** NOTE: THIS PATCH ONLY APPLIES TO CPP AND PP4 MACH TYPES ***
