Hello Everyone

I am working on a phone directory. All the info I need is in a xls spread sheet. I need to import and format all the information. Any ideas on how I can do this quickly and easily?

Is their some tool I can use to turn the info into a doc with styles that I could import? One person recomended that I use MS word to do it. Let me know what you think.

Thanks
Richie

You can directly import an Excel file and it will come in as an InDesign table (all your cells will be intact). You can edit and work with it as a table, or you can convert the table to tabbed text, if you'd rather work that way.

If you feel more comfortable doing the styling in Word, you could do it there and import the file BUT only do this if you have InDesign CS2: It allows you to map the Word styles to styles in InDesign.

Hope that helps.
