My Phaser 860 recently died on me and instead of getting a new printhead I've decided to get a new 8400. However, there seems to be no trade-in value and so I'm wondering whether there are any parts compatible with the 8400 on the 860 - and whether I should hang on to the 860 or just bin it as it does take up room...

Unfortunately the print engine on the 860 and 8400 are totally different, and none of the parts I can think of are interchangeable. The 8400 uses a plastic composite material for its frame as the 860 chassis was steel. Also all of the mechanical have been re-engineered so they also are not interchangable. The 8400 has shown to be very reliable as service calls I have had on it have been almost non-exsistent and print quality is significantly improved.

Its on ebay starting today, I'm in Bristol - its the 860N model
