Phaser 860 - maintenance steps

Hello,

I trying to find a way of giving life back to my phaser 860MDX

Right now if I power on the printer, I can listen to a fan noise (it stays on), and then a Xerox logo appear on the display, then the green light, near the display, lit, then nothing more append... It can stay like that for ever.

I can access to the printer internat web page but nothing is accurate except the 128Mg memory installed, allways displaying [not available "PostScript Initializing"] for every fonctions.

So I have no error code .. no nothing .. I'm totally lost ... And Xerox/Tektro phone support also....

Can somebody give me any technical steps to look at this kind of situation ?

Sounds like the main board fried or at least part of it. You may need a service call from a tech who is certified for replacement parts, but that might cost an arm & a leg.

But, Without swapping suspected items including electronic boards, You may never get life back into it.

You may want to try to install a PCL driver into your computer to see if you can print to it instead of using Postscript.

Did not tried that because the warm up does not take place at all.

Have just spoken by phone with another tech and I have ordered a boot/code chip to see what append...

The particular version of mainboard I have does not have any boot/code chip, so the boot was certainly comming from the dead hard drive ( maybe....) so by placing a boot/code chip in the correct position we will see if the printer boot....
