Phaser 850 jams from main tray every time

Just started jamming on everypage from the top tray. No other tray in use. Error is OPEN FRONT COVER TO CLEAR.

The top of the paper leaves the paper tray then feeds and sticks at just about 1/2 inch between and out of the two lower feed rollers and jams on every page.

Have reviewed these tips for the past year and half and tried all suggestions mentioned.

Here's what I've done so far. Have checked the pick flag and it is OK. Have inspected for scraps of paper in path and ran a cardstock manually through the feed assembly and out to the paper release guide many times and never find anything. Have substituted the paper tray with two other working ones. Have always used the same high quality paper stock so no change there. Have cleaned per Xerox instructions the paper feed rollers and the media-pick roller. I see no broken gears.

Tommy - I'm surprised you haven't run into this before, given the quantity of these units you sell and buy on ebay. The printer needs, most likely, a new drum maintenance clutch. Check the error log for 07,004*. Phantom jamming, inexplicable media errors, they're all indications of it.
