Does anybody know what the cause of this fault is?
The Tektronix (Xerox) website says to clean the rapid release guide - which I have done to no avail. I assume something close by it would be at fault.

That error indicates a blocked sensor. The best way to clear it, would be to use a thick stock or transperancy. Manually feed it through the paper pre-heater and out the top.

Or it could be a bad sensor.

MDA2 - thanks for your reply.

If you can indulge me a little more, where would I find the paper pre-heater?

I assume you mean to push paper through the relevant slot - which one?

Right, I think I've sorted it.

The overenthusiastic salesman who cleared a paper jam left a small piece of paper jammed in the heater unit. It took me about an hour to strip the printer down to this stage.

To get to the heater unit you must remove the upper feed guide - involving stripping down some of the gears on the left side.

Unfortunately one of the maintenance drawer guides (P/N 351-1050) disintegrated as I removed it - this is not the first time we have had cheap bits of plastic break in this printer!

Moral of story: never let your sales staff handle any equipment more complex than a pen - and then I'd stick to a Bic! Thank goodness Bic put holes in the caps now or they might choke themselves!

I forgot to mention - many thanks go to the staff at DMS Systems (Tel: +44 (1582) 883949) for their assistance.
