Dear ALL

I'm not sure if people are aware that the 8400B is EXACTLY the same as the 8400DP apart from having a different SIMM card and one less 128mb RAM chip.

Now what I want to know is if you already have an 8400DP but it goes faulty can you simply purchase an 8400B and swap the SIMM card and the 128mb chip over to get the 8400B to become an 8400DP.

Any help's appreciated.

Nick

Yes you can but now the 8500 is out.
What is wrong with your current 8400?
What are you going to do with the old printer?

Hi we actually sell these products and since the 8400dp's are nolonger available i told the customer that i think getting the b and swapping all the stuff will work.

I have sold an 8400n and the customer swapped the stuff over from an old dp and that worked. however xerox tell me that you can't go from a B to a DP because you need a simm to flash the printer to say it's an n before it can become a dp. I always thought this might be rubbish but have never risked it.

Thanks

Nick

In your case you would need to swap the NVRAM chip aswell as the card and ram. The only problem would be the serial # would be wrong and Im not sure if it can be changed once its been set.
