This may or may not be related to a recent power surge / cut (80% sure that it is!). When i try to power on my 8400, all that happens is the power/ready light turns Red and the screen goes blank. I was able to get it to post and run the cleaning cycle (complete with printed page) by removing the covers, reseating all the obvious connections and then powering the printer on without the HDD (which prompted the expected error message on the display), then, reconnecting the HDD and powering up. However, once the cleaning cycle has run, it goes back to red light, no display..no worky!
Now the fun part...when i't in this state, if i flip the power switch, the red power light stays on (i even left it like that for 30 minutes to see if it would extinguish). In order to get the light to go out, i have to physically pull the plug.
Any one have any ideas as to what may be / may have caused this? My initial assumption was a fried PSU, but i'm starting to doubt that after i got it to run the cleaning cycle...bad/corrupted HDD maybe?!?
Please, help a guy out!
TIA..
