when i power on the printer and it wants to feed the paper to do cleaning,
The paper feeds to the point where the printhead and the roller on top of the printhead meet. I get an error message "paper jame open exit cover.

I ran a diagnostic for the paper path. and the paper moves through the printer fine from either tray. So I don't believe there are any obstruction. However when the printer tries to run the cleaning startup print, there seems to be some residual(sp?) wax that somewhat knots the leading edge of the paper in one paticular spot.

This printer is 13 months old. Has a new maintanence kit, has printed about 10,000 pages.

It sounds as if the Drum Maintenance Pivot Plate assembly (367053180) has either cracked or broken. This is the part that pushes the maintenance roller up to the drum. I've seen quite a few of these break, Xerox has a new style out because of this problem, the new pivot plate is black the old one is white. I hope this helps.
