I am working on a Phaser 8400 with start-up error 07.008.41. I have already read several comments regarding this code, but I have set everything in the "home" position several times following the manual and have watched the warm-up procedure with the sides removed. The maintenance kit rises and lowers a few times during the process, but then on one occasion stops in the raised position and error 07.008.41:18632 is displayed. Using a flat bladed screwdriver to rotate the drum maintenance camshaft lowers the maintenance tray ok and all holes in the process gears align correctly and also that the print head tilt gears are disengaged indicated by the arrows being aligned with each other. Also raised and lowered the wiper and aligned following the procedure. Where should I be looking next? Please help!

Head movement? Spilled ink on the cam can stop the head from engaging, pull the waste tray, and look at the cam.
Check the cables on the p-head for binding. Check the roll block for correct placement. Run the tilt axis drive test.

Hi, many thanks for the suggestions. The fault was the top of the left print head restraint was cracked through (commonly mentioned fault)so no longer being rigidly fixed the the printer frame. I was able to fix this in situ by removing the small boss behind where the screw goes into the top of the head restraint and then making a small bracket fixed to the frame with a small nut and bolt ( through the original fixing screw hole) and into the top of the restraint by drilling a 3.5mm hole and using the original side fixing screw to screw into the top of the restraint. Be very carefull not to let any plastic swarf enter the mechanim! All fixed for free!!
