Model: Phaser 8400

Problem: Double images & Paper jam @ exit
Image repeats & isn't cleaned off on right side of drum. (about a 1" wide strip, very close to the right edge)
As a result, paper jams @ exit
Cleaning cycles won't remove ink build up.

So far:
- New Maintenance kit was installed.
- Ran a few adjustments from service mode.
- Pivot plate/cleaning/oiling operation is normal

Any ideas appreciated. I did a search here for ideas but nothing really applied to the 8400.
Anyone heard if the PRE-HEAT lamps develop "cold spots"?

The pivot plate could be cracked. Many of the white color plates will crack, the new pivot plates are black color. Once the plate is cracked, the oil roller doesn't oil the drum properly and causes the image to stick to the drum.

Thanks for that helpful post.
It's a white color plate and it IS cracked. Will post a follow up after replacing it.
Thanks again.

Check the cam assembly that pushes the pivot plate up also... the cams have a tendency to slip on the shaft... Later

Thanks ... Pivot plate is definately cracked.
The(Right side)Metal cam strike plate was lying in bottom too.

I didn't find that the cams have slipped on the shaft but each cam appears to have a hairline crack across the backside of it where its secured to the shaft. They still fit tightly but the crack looks like it goes mostly all the way thru the plastic.

thanks again for the input

Don't forget to order the grease,Rheolube 768 grease PN:006-7997-00, to apply onto the pivot plate. The grease goes onto the 2 metal plates and where the top part of the plate makes contact with the shaft.
