Hi guys,
I have a strange "problem" with a phaser 8400 in our office. We have had it over a year now, but in the 1st year never used it very much since we we still had a phaser 850 with a large quanity of color (and free black) ink.
Now that we are using the 8400 more we are noticing that the colors really appear to be "off". The colors do not match what we are seeing on the screen.... blues are darker than normal, oranges are kind of brownish, greenish tints to pictures, etc.
I am using the proper drivers and color profiles from the xerox website. Strangely enough when i print a full test pages of yellow, black, magenta, cyan as they suggest... these pages come out in the proper shades.
So i would think that would rule out any problems with the ink or the machine itself. The best setting i can find is VIVID which makes at least some attempt at color matching, but still not close enough. Our old phaser 850 prints MUCH better and brighter pictures than the 8400 which has been VERY disappointing.
I did do the printhead firmware update which made no difference.
Any ideas? Could a defective printhead be causing improper color matching?
