I upgraded an 8200N to a DP by switching out the board from another machine. The printer still prints beautifully in one sided mode but jams when trying to feed the paper in to print the second side. I have checked for obstructions and found none. I assume there is a sensor that is causing the jam. When I clear the jam and close the exit door the machine makes a horrible sound on the lefthand side and then reprints page one, after several jams it shuts off and restarts. Any ideas?

Well, since you mentioned the left side of the printer, I would start by checking the Drum Maintanence clutch. Fisd out if yours is the earlier single piece design, or the newer two piece design. I've seen some odd things happen when the earlier clutch fails.
As you take off the left side cover, you are looking for two clutches on the base side of the printer. You will see, what xerox calls an "anti rotation" collar. Because you have an 8200, your anti rotation collar will either be white, or blue. Note the color. If it is white, you have the old style clutch. Blue indicates a new style. Of the two clutches that use this single collar, the DM Clutch is the one to the rear of the printer, and connects to the left side io board by way of a 3 pin connector.
New style part number is 650-4288-00. If you don't have the new style I would highly suggest replacing it.
Also, these printers are notorious for sticky solenoid on the right side. If you take off the right side cover, there is a plate at the top of the printer that has wires routed through, and is held on by 2 torx screws. If you unroute the wires, take this plate off, you will find that attached to it, is a solenoid. This is the transfix roller solenoid, and does get sticky. Take the arm off, being careful not to lose the spring. Clean the arm, and on the solenoid itself, put a piece of tape on the black rubber pad.
Both the DM Clutch and sticky solenoid can cause paper jams in this printer. I'd start there because these are known failure points, and for the most part, there are typically only 3 things I've ever had to fix on these printers. Those two, and replacing the heater lamps. After doing those 3 things, I rarely ever see that printer again.
