I just replaced the preheater bulbs in the phaser 8200, broke and repaired a flag sensor, and put the machine back together and now can't get a good quality print. I'm getting alot of light stripes and ink smears on the top and bottom of the pages. The ink smears just look like oily smears...no color. Is there anything I can do?

thanks

The only thing that will give an oily smear is the maintenance kit. I would check the side guides and make sure they were installed correctly.

Check the maintenence count. May be expired.Clean the edges of the wiping blade. The CWP assy. may be caked up on the edges, and does not seal to the printhead.
Check the cleaning blade under the top cover.
Print 10-15 pages of solid colors to clear up clogged jets.

when you say check the maintenance count, do you mean the maintenance tray is too old? I just put the new maintenance kit in......but....it is several over a year old. I bought it quite awhile ago. cleaning blade under the top cover is clean. I'll check the other suggestions.

thanks for everyone's help.

Yes, the counter does have a shelf life. You should still be able to do tests, and run several head cleanings.
The ink that is already in the reservoirs could have turned bad also, clogging the jets. Using non-xerox ink can, and does mess up the printhead.
