The 790 is set up as a network printer and no longer supported by Xerox. The message I get is: Printing ‘testprint.ps’. Connecting to 192.168.0.6 on port 631... Network host '192.168.0.6' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds...

I'm trying to print from a 24" iMac with 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme. If I directly connect the printer & mac via ethernet cable, I get: Unable to connect to printer, instead of the busy message. Thanks.

Do a PS NVRAM re-set. This will clear out any old data.
Re-seat the firmware and memory chips. Test NIC connections on a PC. The Mac may have a bad NIC.
Check any workstations for jobs in queue.

Thanks for the reply. This is a home network with only a Power Mac G4 and the iMac G5 so I can't test the NIC connections on a PC. But the G4 prints without any problems. I downloaded the Service Manual, but it only gives instructions on how to clear NVRAM using a PC laptop. Is that the same thing as a PS NVRAM re-set, and i so is there a way to do it on a Mac? There are no jobs in queue. How do I re-seat the firmware and memory chips?
